Acting Cast
Reason: Anne Hathaway has the physical demeanor that connotes a rebellious and mischevious nature. She also looks sly, sharp and intelligent, traits that are essential for Abigail.
What better man than our favourite childhood villain to play the power-hungry and greedy Rev. Parris?
Julie Benz is a person that brings out both the vulnerability and strength of a character. Despite a rather weak stature and connoting a sense of insecurity, she is also one that stays true to her values.
Character: Reverend Parris
Actor: Alan Rickman
Character: Elizabeth Proctor
Actor: Julie Benz
Character: Thomas Putnam
Actor: John Travolta
Character: Reverend John Hale
Actor: Leonardo Dicaprio
Character: Rebecca Nurse
Actor: Charlotte Rampling
Reason: Christian Bale is an actor that has this physical demeanor that connotes inner strength and determination. He is also very experienced in roles with intense psychological struggle.
One of his most famous films would be the recent ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, which bears many similarites to ‘The Crucible’. Throughout the movie, Batman (Bale) is constantly undergoing psychological struggles as he recovers from his decapacitating defeat at the hands of Bane to once again emerge victorious. At the end, Batman (Bale) sacrifices his own life to save the lives of the citizens in Gotham city.
John Travolta is a master at playing villains, with the bulk of his acting roles being villains. He has a signature villain smile which seems to say “Watch out! Nothing it as it seems”. The witty John Travolta will be perfect in portraying the devious Thomas Putnam.
Charlotte Rampling has a natural aura of authority and strength, making her perfect for the role of Rebecca Nurse.
He is a really strong actor that can portray characters that are firm and devoted in their belief. In the movie Shutter Island, his firm belief in his own mind was ultimately proven to be erroneous and he had to painfully reconcile the truth (something similar to John Hale). Plus he is really handsome.
